On Tuesday I went for a walk with a friend, James, of What’s Your Story? Whilst walking we discussed life, our journey’s and the power of story.
When he asked me “How have you got to where you are today?” My mind began to race at the massive question I’d been asked.
Being woke for almost four years, the journey has seen me make many false starts, have a few successes and also a number of failures – or rather learning opportunities. I’ve spent a lot of time digging down into myself figuring out who I am and what I have to say – and how I wish to share my gifts.
Setting up the beingrobhowe.com website, coupled with the enrolment onto an online business course called ‘MBE in a box’ has brought me to be in a very similar position to where I was at the start. I felt a bubbling sense of frustration moving through me, but I caught the self-defeating thought and remembered
Success is never a linear process
I’m still here. I’m still going. I’m keeping the faith.
I’ve been working on defining my vision, mission and value statement over the last week. It’s good practice for anyone wishing to set up their own company/business/personal brand. The lessons I’m learning are applicable not just to the business I’m co-founding – The Oneness Foundation, but they are also lessons I can apply to this platform.
Mission – clear and focused
- Why does the company exist?
- What is the reason for our organisation’s existence?
Examples of good mission statements:
“To build the web’s most convenient, secure, cost-effective payment solution.” Paypal
“To accelerate the advent of sustainable transport by bringing compelling mass market electronic cars to market as soon as possible.” Tesla
Vision – concise, clear and inspirational
- What do we want to achieve in the future?
- Who do we want to become?
“To provide access to the world’s information in one click.” Google
“To create economic opportunity for every member of the global workforce.” Linkedin
Define your goals – what you want to achieve
Define your objectives – actions to achieve these goals
- Your core principles.
- Communicates what the company stands behind
I hope these lessons which are present for me at the moment help you in some way. Feel free to reach out and share your ideas, questions or feedback. I’m happy to talk and connect.
